I went in to planet fitness beginning of the month to cancel my gym membership which i have had for a year and is a three year contract. after a week of no feedback on my cancellation request i called the gym and was told the manager would call me back. After a further week of no feed back i called them today and was told the manager would call me back again, only to be called back by the receptionist who told me i couldnt cancel my membership without penalties as the period wasnt up yet.i tried to ask to speak to the manager but was told this was not possible, i also tried to explain to the receiptionist that this was agaisnt the consumer protection act but she didnt understand what i was trying to say.
The consumer protection act says i can cancel the membership after 20 days notice without any penalties and i would like to do this.
