Lack of Security, i.e. Customers Personal Items

On 14 Aug, 2013 at 0620 AM, I left my cell phone unattended on a tread mill, on the main floor for 15 minutes. Before leaving the gym, I checked the desk and tread mill with no luck. On the way out I another Virgin Active member, said her husband had the exact experience just a week prior to mine. At work, I discovered that coworker had the also had same experience at the gym. It appears the staff did not handle the matter with the attention it deserved. The staff told the SAPS officer whom called later in the morning that the video was not clear; yet they described the wrong location. Furthermore, the Virgin Active Staff in Sunninghill would not allow the SAPS officer to review the tape, without going through a lengthy legal process. Thus helping the 's gain ground. Given, CCTV coverage is present on the floor, it appears to be a simple matter. My question is Virgin Active is as follows: Is this policy of having poor security standard practice in all gyms? As a foreign citizen, from the USA I am shocked at the lack of security, and lack of cooperation with the police as well as the amount of at that location. I hope corporate will take notice..
