No food, no communication

On 26 April, my girlfriend and I went to Food Lovers Market (FLM) in Claremont for supper. We've been patrons for a while now after being impressed by the quality of the service and good food.

However, I find myself questioning whether I want to return after our experience.

We got to FLM around 18:20. We sat down and ordered drinks around 18:30. The drinks took about 15min to arrive (both cans of cooldrink. How?). When the drinks arrived (18:45) we ordered: sushi and a burger. At this point the restaurant was not especially busy but was starting to pick up. Then began our wait...

After no communication for 40min I made eye contact with our waiter (David) who walked off, came back and said my burger was nearly done. Time? 19:25. At this point we were feeling anxious as we had a movie at 20:00.

At 19:45 we went to the front of house and said we just wanted the sushi as we had a movie to get to at 20:00. She disappeared and returned to say the kitchen was just frying the patty (from nearly done to frying the patty?)

At 19:55 the bill arrived and we hurriedly paid and left: hungry and disappointed.

What happened? Why did it happen? What is being done to stop it happening again?
