I paid my SABC TV licence at Makro on 24/3/2013 when I bought a new TV. The current licence was to expire on 31/3/2013 and I was impressed by the "one-stop" service.
On 17/4/2013 I got an sms from SABC informing me that I did not pay the license. I went to Makro and they sorted the problem out by faxing my proof of payment to the SABC license department. Upon enquiring at the SABC on the 18/4/2013 it was confirmed that proof of payment was received. However on 24/4/2013, I received another sms informing me I need to pay the license before 28/4/2013 or face legal action. I immediately enquired from the SABC and was informed that the transaction was reversed due to the fact that Makro NEVER paid the amount to SABC. In order to prevent legal action I had to pay another R250 today to keep a clean record. Therefore my 2013/14 TV license is costing me R500 due to incompetence of Makro Bloemfontein.
