On the 9th of April I purchaced flu medicine at Clicks Northmead Square. I wanted to charge the medicine to my husbands medical account. The chemist consulted his medical aid and informed us that it is not possible. So I told her to charge it to mine. I gave her the details and she informed me that my medical aid does not pay for that specific type of medicine. We ended up paying cash for the item. That same day I received a e-mail from my medical aid informing me that they approved payment for that same medicine I paid cash for at Clicks.
How can we as pensioners end up paying double for items like this? Over the counter medicine comes out of our savings plan at the medical aid. It is a direct cost to us at the end of the day. Big companies like Clicks should not from us.
