Woolworths
Non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Act

My fiancee and I were shopping at Woolworths in Brooklyn Mall, she purchased a slim fit low cut jean for her father. The tag showed that the price of the jean was R150. When she went to the till to pay for it the jean, the lady at the till informed us that the product had been on sale and that they were taken off the system. Thus when they scanned it, it indicated a price of R0.01. The store manager then informed us that she would get the jean for free. She "purchased" the jean and other products and we left the store. After 20 minutes we returned to the store and I decided that I would like to buy myself a pair of jeans. I got myself 4 pairs of jeans and went to the till to pay for them. When they were scanned the same thing happened and the price displayed was R0.01. The manager then informed us that she would not be able to give me any pairs for free as she had already given my fiancee a pair of jeans for free. I then explained to her that I would be willing to pay the price on the tag for the jeans. She refused to sell me the jeans. She took the jeans out of my hands and the other jeans of the shelves. This is blatant non-compliance with section 8 of the Consumer Protection Act
