I have been wearing Levi's, particularly 501's, since I was 14 in 1974. They have always been a brand associated with solid manufacture. Those days I wore my jeans to do everything, seldom washing them, and they lasted and lasted. Recently however since Levi's have become a high street type brand it would appear that the product quality in South Africa has declined markedly. I have in my possession four pairs of 501's, each costing around R 500, where the material has ripped next to the seam in the crotch, the corners of the pockets have torn off, and the belt loops on two pairs of jeans have come off. This has happened within a few weeks of purchase. I have the items for inspection if required. I was in Sandton, wearing a pair of these jeans when I walked into the Sandton City store to register my complaint and I was pleasantly surprised when the store manager took one look at the jeans and immediately replaced them - no questions asked. That was good but sadly I have another three pairs of jeans with the same problem. I am hesitant to buy Levi's again as the quality really seems down. It is like losing an old friend... something must be done. Please help.
