Edgars Northgate dont care about their customers

Wednesday 6th March 2013 about 16:00. Trying to pay for goods at the till point. Only one teller - a long queue of customers. Many other staff members standing around chatting at the various counters. I tried to call the manager of the store from my cell phone while in the queue and the message I got was that no-one was available - please hold on. After wasting money on a call no-one was going to take - I asked the single teller to please call the manager - what a mission it was for her to phone someone. Still we waited and no-one came. I asked her what was happening? Where was the manager? She said the line was busy, she could not request one. Could she not tell us? She was so unfazed. After a while a male staff member comes towards the tills and I ask - are you the manager? No! - so I explain that we called a manager. Silence no response from him. He then proceeds to activate a till point and calls the next customer. Surely a courteous staff member could at least let us know what is happening if asked directly? Along with the bad service do we also have to put up with a bad attitude and ill mannered staff? Personally, I think this is unacceptable.
