It is difficult to find anything good to say about this Pick 'n Pay, except for the location.
- The staff are often surly and rude, for example sometimes the tellers do not even greet you
- There is seldom anybody to answer questions: the staff in the aisles are mostly "shelf packers" from suppliers
- The so called information desk inside the shop is never manned
- The staff at the "outside counter" are more interested in selling Lotto tickets than looking after other customers
- The aisles are too narrow
- Stock outs are frequent.
In contrast the Woolworths at the same centre is excellent and the SPAR in Greenpoint, Cape Town is a role model of how it can be done. These example show that what is the norm at the likes of Waitrose and Carrefour overseas is possible in South Africa.
