We purchased the kambrook iron on 1 March 2012 at Clicks Prominade Mitchells Plain. I was busy ironing and it caught flame by it self. Resulting in my hand getting burnt and my clothes being damaged. The iron didnt even cut out so i had to switch it off by the plug still. It appears that they showed no concern for the injury that i sustained and that there are no safety mechanism on the iron, otherwise it would have tripped the electricity. I was offered the same iron in return but clearly after the incident I am reluctant in taking it. I bought the iron on special and now the iron is valued more than what i purchased it for. So i asked if i can get a different brand iron for the same price and I was denied. Instead i was offered a voucher at the reduced price for when i purchased the iron. It would appear that im to be blamed for the fault of the product. This can go 2 ways: 1. either let me have an iron of my choice, 2. have your quality assurance department check the iron and let me know why it caught alight without switching off. I phoned head office numerous times for the regional manager to contact me but up until today nobody contacted me.
