I have always purchased all my home appliances at Checkers House and Home (N1) and when my fridge needed to be replaced, that was my first port of call. On 15/01/2014 I purchased a Murier and Haupt Silver (Fridge) plus plugs, roller for R2 699 (cash). I withdrew from my savings half hour before. I am an old age pensioner, stay in a nearby retirement home and I used my birthday money from my 82nd birthday to fund this. Imagine my shock that in the TYGERBURGER received on 22/01/2014, price R2 299 (savings of R400). Surely this was in the pipeline as I especially asked if a discount would be available. I am saddened and shocked as this is my pension money and I am saving for a new Samsung 32 TV, new microwave and new mattress which I will also buy at House and Home. My pension does not increase. Can you assist in any way. The retirement home brings me in the combi every Tuesday. I am not requesting a refund, but a credit for use of future dreams and purchases would be appreciated. I do not have a mobile phone/cell.
