Resold book already paid fo

I have ordered and pay for a book that was mail to me due to a fault at my post office the books was return to Cape Town, I was send a mail telling me that they have received my order back and do I want them to resend it to me. I said yes I please want my books that I have paid for 3months ago. I was called to be told that the book that I ordered and paid for is now out of stock. they are very sorry but they sold my book that I already paid for to someone else. They had no right to sell something that I paid for that is now my property again to someone els.
