Faulty Freeze

We bought a refrigerator and freezer in 2008. The refrigerator is working since then fantastic, not a single problem, but the freezer had to be serviced once or twice a year. The freezer keeps on freezing up, We had the service technician of Hirch here a number of times, a Whirlpool technician once, and we still sit with the same problem.
We were told that the faulty part which is a small heater has stopped working and it will cost R2000-00 to repair. This is hugely expensive since we paid R4000-00 for the new freezer.
I find this totally unacceptable and unfair to pay for part which don't even last 6 months and cost 50% freezer cost price.
