Promised feedback / Missed Deadlines

Purchased a Treadmill at considerable expense on Thursday 9th Jan, just wanted a guaranteed delivery time so I could take time off work. Took 3 phone calls with the delivery division to get a verbal "yes sir we will deliver on Tuesday 14th at 2 o'clock and we will phone on Monday to confirm this, Monique is the contact" Krishan the Manager at SW Fourways then promised also to phone me on Monday to confirm the delivery.
Well no phone call on Monday from either of them. This morning I phoned Krishan, it took him a while to remember my request, he promised to phone back, of course he didn't, he got Monique to phone me who then told me that they wouldn't make the 2 o'clock delivery time as they only have two technicians available. When do you think I would have got the call to say they couldn't make it at all. They have now promised delivery at 3 o'clock today. I am not holding my breath.
Do these service providers realise that people take time off work to allow them to deliver, I would have rather collected the thing and installed it myself but that voids the warranty. Don't say you will deliver if you know you can and keep the customer informed.
