Returns Policy: Sales staff has no clue!

My husband bought me an e-reader end of December. I read 2 books on it when i noticed a line through the screen. I returned the reader in the 2nd week of January. The sales person working at the electronics dept told me that they don't have a returns/refund policy after 7 days of purchase. I handed over my e-reader to be sent to the manufacturer for repairs. A week later they phoned me and asked that i send them the box with all accessories so that i can get a replacement because they cannot fix the device. Getting there i was informed that i have to wait for the manufacturer to send the replacement device as they don't give the replacements. I bought the device from CNA, not the manufacturer overseas! It has been 2 weeks and i have not heard anything back from CNA. I went there this Sunday but left after wasting my time standing around for a very long time without getting any service. As usual CNA was packed with customers and only 3 sales staff to assist. I read the Returns Policy on the CNA website and according to that, i shouldve gotten a refund like i requested. I don't want the product anymore and i don't want to buy ANYTHING from CNA again, i want my money back!
