Left without entertainment-inconvenienced by Game

I purchased a Samsung 3D Blu Ray in June 2013
A few months later the remote stopped working. We can put the machine on manually but we can only use the "PLAY" option. All the other functions are not working since it works via the remote.

I went to Game to have it checked in for repairs. Game told me to go to Samsung myself and have it repaired.
Samsung told me to go back to Game - Game needs to replace the machine.
Why do I need to go through all this, when it is Game's policy to repair / replace the broken goods.

Samsung also made note that they will be closing over the Christmas season and will not be able to help me during this period.

I am now sitting with a machine that doesn't work and the whole holiday I could not watch any DVDs
