On Saturday 30 November there was a strong wind in Tokai. My wife parked her car and was on the point of getting out when a Checkers trolley came flying down the road. She climbed back in her car quickly to avoid being knocked over. The trolley hit the car and smashed the mirror off. The trolley staff were too few and were unable to control the trolleys, and thus the accident happened - a cost of R1200.00 was incurred.
A letter to Wendy Rieken at Checkers insurers Aon denied any liability.
In my opinion Checkers is liable. Imagine if my wife had been knocked over and had fractured a hip? This is a hopeless response. I will certainly go to the press if it remains unresolved.
I will certainly express my dissatisfaction to the powers that be. I think Checkers lost one more very good custome
