I was on holiday in Amanzimtoti last week and bought a pack of vacuum packed "Thick Cut Matured Rump" at Makro on Wednesday.
When we had our braai in the evening I noticed that the pack consisted of a bunch of small pieces that looked like off-cuts.
When we ate the meat, it turned out to be full of sinew and extremely tough. This pack was obviously made up from scraps of meat that you would never sell in a packaging other than vacuum packed, since nobody would buy it if they could properly see what it was made up from.
If you want to sell sub-standard meat, don't label it is rump. Just label it as off-cuts and then try to sell it to your clients.
