Shocking product quality

I purchased an engagement ring from american swiss, blue route mall on sunday and had to have the ring sent to be re sized. I was assured that this would be no problem and that I would have the ring back on Thursday. This was perfect since my plans to propose were for friday evening at a romantic dinner. I contacted american swiss to confirm that the ring was there. They said it had not been booked in yet but was in the store and that I could collect in the evening. I went in to the store and was told that there was a problem and that the ring could not be altered. Written on the order by the jeweller was, simply put, that the ring was. He wrote that the cluster in the centre was skew, there was Insufficient metal holding the stones in place, that the stonea were falling out and that they were almost upside down. I would love to know what sort of quality control takes place considering that a ring was placed on display that was, in no uncertain terms, unsellable. I was not offered a refund only a gift card to the value of. American swiss completely Destroyed all of my proposal plans and ensured that what should have been a wonderful occasion bacame a disaster.
