My account was converted from 6 to 12 months

My account was incorrectly converted from a 6 month interest free acccount to a 12 month account that accures interest. I have not been receiving my statements and only noticed this month. I do not think that i should have to pay interest for a mistake that i did not make. i specifically requested that my account remain a 6 month interest free account???
