I went for the opening of the Makro store in Amanzimtoti, while outside in line to go in, I was told that if I need to purchase a TV I would need to register for a tv licence. I did register just in-case I did decide to purchase a tv, before the lady could take down my details I did ask if I would still be charged if I didn't purchase a tv and she confirm that I would not, because I would need to pay for the licence at the tills and then only I would be registered to pay. I had NOT purchased a tv and left the store. After a couple of weeks I received an sms from SABC stating I need to make payment of R265 for TV licence, I immediately contacted Makro and Londiwe Makhanya tried to help me, I supplied her with all my information and she even checked with all the purchases I made on that day. She then email Mluleki Kunene, Lucy Naguriah from Makro to cancel the licence, after a couple of days I received another sms to pay R291.50 to pay SABC, because of penalties. I went into the store today and the lady says that this happen to most customers and I need to go to the police station and get an affidavit and send to SABC, So this mess up becomes my problem & makro couldn't care.
