Guide-dogs

I am deaf and visually impaired with 20% field vision. I have a guide dog named Kaine.

When entering the PEP STORES FISH HOEK I was approached by a lady in PEP Stores uniform telling me that my dog is not allowed into her store. I explained that it was my guide dog but she did not listen. I showed her my SA Guide-dog Ownership card. Still she refused! I asked her for the manager. She said that she was the MANAGER.
Because of my handicap, I did not understand what she was saying. I asked her to write down but instead she showed me to the door and said that this dog must stay there with the security guard! I said WHAT! with my LOUD voice. I showed her my card once again. She still did not accept it. An old lady shopper overhearing the conversation intervened. The manager asked me why I have a dog if I could see. I was taken aback with her and said that I am losing my sight. The manager apologized and allowed me into the store after we shook hands. I was so dumb-founded by her manner that I lost interest in finding a pair of tackies there..

These managers should be sent back to management school... for further training and made aware of the use of guide dogs and disabled owners!
