Ring changed colou

I bought my wedding ring from American Express. My engagement ring was platinum but as platinum is too expensive. I was told silver would be very noticeable against the platinum & white gold would look similar. The white gold ring was more expensive than the yellow gold ring. I bought it and 3 months thereafter the ring had changed colour from white gold to yellow gold.
