I purchased merchandise on the 9th September 2013 for R1250.00 and on the 15th September 2013 for R1198.00. As the purchases were only made mid-September, I believed that payment would fall due end October. However, on the 8th October I received a telephone call demanding payment of R610.00. I immediately made an internet payment of R650.00. On the 10th October I received a text message informing me that I had been handed over to collections as a "LATE PAYER"!!! I was shocked. I have had an account with Edgars since 1963 and have a clean record. I am terrified of the legal system in South Africa and decided to settle the account. On the 12th October I settled the balance of R1850.00. I believe I was BULLIED into settling this account in less than one month in spite of the fact that I have 6 months to pay this account. I will never shop at Edgars Stores again and want to warn others out there to be careful of Edgars' treatment.
