I have an account with Edgars. A debit order went off from my Bank account every month around the 15th, with the installment amount. A the beginning of June, I decided to settle my account earlier, by paying larger cash amounts at the store. So I went on 6 August, and settled my account. Then on the 15th, a debit order for R31.13 was rejected by my bank, because of insufficient funds. My bank charged me with a R115 fee for this. And Edgars charged me a further R50. I got a call from Edgars, a few moments after I noticed this on my bank account, to find out when I am going to pay the outstanding amount. So I went to my nearest branch to find out what is going on. Every month they add a "Life Membership fee" of R32.00, off which I am aware. So they tell me, it is because I settled my account before the 7th of the month, before the R32 was added, thats why the debit order still went off. Plus, on my statement it says that the due amount of R31.13 is due 01/09/2013. So how can they deduct it on the 15th of August, if it is only due on 1 September. I can not recall ever missing a payment to Edgars. I settle my account, and this is how one is thanked.
