I have been harassed for the past 3 months by people calling me from R L Daly Corporation in Durban, informing me that I owe Edgars R1300-odd and will I please start paying. I closed my account with Edgars in 1997/8 and have not even been buying cash from them since. My account was paid off when I closed it. I do not keep official documents for longer than 5 years - which is what the law requires - and has thus got no proof that this account was paid off. As far as I know it is illegal to prosecute - or in this case more like persecute - people for bad debts after the lapse of five years. I have now decided to go to the NCR with them as they are harassing me daily and refuse to take no for an answer. I am very happy to see that I am not the only person experiencing this, as I really thought that I was the victim of some.
