Ripping people off seems to be the standard here!!

On the 30th of September we visited the store at Festival to buy a entertainment unit. The advertised price was R4400 with R450 deposit and R291 per month. We completed the application and was confronted to sign an agreement saying the unit will cost us R11900 and we will be paying R470 monthly for 24 months. On investigation the store added extended warranty for R800, Club joining fees of more than a R1000 and life insurance and insurance of more than R3000 compulsory delivery fee of R450 all of this is then charged at 21% interest. We rejected the agreement but saw that according to the offer 3 years would only be charged 12% interest. We opted to remove all the items we didn't ask for and the outrages insurance fee. Had to redo the applications and now suddenly the agreement is only for R7000 and monthly still over R300 for 24 months at 20%. The system was unable to select 36 months which was now quoted at 5%. We provided the proof on household content insurance of more than R230 000 but our order was kept back because we had not proof of life insurance and didn't want the crazy priced one offered. I think the Consumer protection as was written to protect us against this!!
