On the 6th of September I bought a gift card at Markhems Maponya Mall valued R1000. I then unfortunately misplaced the card, still unused think our cleaning lady threw it out. I then began the tiresome exercise of calling the TFG wanting to know how can one go about recovering their lost gift card, was told the most absurd thing that the gift card acts/is treated like cash and cannot be replaced. I even explained to their many consultants that I still have the receipt and it has the last four digit of the card, can they maybe give me the full card number and i'll make purchases that way. Was still told that's also impossible (mind u I've been to stores where their scanner don't work and they have to manually enter my card number to make payments/purchases). I then suggested that they can charge me for an additional card for the same value then, still was told its impossible. I now sit with a R1000 debt that I didn't even use because TFG says they view gift cards as cash.

I'm very disappointed and wish to state my dissatisfaction in the company as a whole.

Why have card numbers if not to protect ur customers, have the purchase on record but 'nothing' can be done
