Incorrect Prices Scanned

I went to Edgars on Sunday and bought a few items on my account as well as for cash, my cousin was at the till next to me, when I was done I waited for her, she returned after a while and then brought to my attention that 3 items she had purchased were scanned at a higher price than that which was on the garments. I thereafter checked my cash slip and found that 3 items on my cash slip were also over charged. I immediatley went to returns and had the money refunded to me. I queried how does something like this happen and I was not happy with the response, the teller said that the system updates and the price tags on the garments have not been changed. My concern with the response is that if I had not be warned to check, I would have left the store not knowing better. In my opinion this is daylight, not many people check their cash slip, assuming that you have just shopped at a reputable store. The other concern is that we can't even see on a screen what the item is scanning at, which also leaves one cluless.
