Information changed at tilll point

Yesterday we visited the toys r us and baby's are us store at pavilion, we were deliberating on the brand of car seat and pram to purchase, we were assisted by 2 different consultants at the store, both sales ladies had a look at the vitality discount vouchers we had and advised on he products that these vouchers were redeemable against, we then chose the car seat and pram and proceeded to follow the payment queue, after a long wait in the toys r us queue as the babies r us till point was now closed we were told that these vouchers are not valid for this product, I advised the attendant that this was the product that was shown to us but was merely brushed if and told that the consultant was new and was not given any response when I queried regarding the older consultant. No attempt was made by the manager on duty to clarify with the sales assistance, to not cause anymore embarrassment to ourselves we just paid the full price and left, we felt extremely ripped off as we were only advised of the discount not applicable at the till point after 2 people assisted in selecting the product that would qualify for it.
