I will no longer buy from Fruit and Veg city, but would like to warn others out there to save their money buy AVOIDING this Store. Almost 80% of the food you buy is rotten and if it is not rotten it only lasts a day or two at the most before it goes off. So don't fall for their 'cheap' prices - you end up spending more having to constantly throw away rotten things and replacing.
The last straw was when I bought potatoes, bananas and stir-fry and bean sprout mix from the Malvern branch (Durban). After opening the bag of potatoes, I had to immediately throw away half the bag, the rest of the potatoes only lasted a two day before oozing with rot - so in a nutshell I paid for a whole bag of potatoes and only got to use two potatoes! The bananas... well, it looked fine on the outside but the inside had bruised rot spots, so basically one can only take one bite and have to chuck the rest. The stir-fry mix and bean sprouts I opened and immediately could smell the rot, and had to throw that away - again money down the drain!! Prior to this I have had similar issues with the quality of their goods with almost each and every visit. NOT WORTH IT!!
