I received a 19 piece "Torque Craft Power Tool Accessories" drill bit set as a gift. The first time I used a 5.5mm drill bit out of the set was to drill a hole in a mild steel 25X25 square tube, this was done in a Drill Press. Very little pressure was applied and the drill bit broke into 3 pieces.
I returned to Mica, Vredenburg, Mall and explained that the set was a gift and as such I did not have a purchase slip. The person in-charge and I went to the drill bit shelf where he informed me that my set was rated: Normal" and cost R129-00 and that the better grade of Drill Bits was rated "Industrial" and cost R229-00. I asked if it would be possible to pay the R100-00 difference and upgrade to "Industrial". He said that without a slip he could not help me. I asked if he was the owner of Mica, Vredenburg, Mall, and he said no. I asked him to contact the owner. He phoned the owner who was not prepared to speak to me but advised his staff member he was not in a position to assist. Perhaps "Normal" drill bits should state 1 For use on Plastic and aluminum. 2 Only to be used in hand held drilling machines. That way when the drill bit snaps like a cracker, you will think it's your fault.
