Had the worst service ever at the House & Home, Blue Route today. Went in to accept a quote for carpets, which I then had to pay the full amount. At the payment counter the lady I dealt with was in a very bad mood, as the printer was not working due to needing a toner replacement. I then tried to pay with my ABSA debit card which was declined due to "chip declined"? I then tried to pay with my Standard Bank debit card and once again the same error came up? Nobody could explained this error to me, and considering I had done some shopping at Woolworths and Edgar's, I knew that my cards were not faulty. I then went up to the Standard Bank to get a "Bank Cheque" issued to House & Home. The "fun" really began when I gave this cheque to the same cashier at House & Home. Not withstanding the fact that it was a "Bank Cheque", not a personal cheque, she insisted that she had to get a cheque clearance! After nearly 1.5 hours in the store, trying to give them money/payment, my transaction was finally complete.By the way both banks have confirmed that there is nothing wrong with my cards, the fault was with the card machines at House & Home.
