My dad has purchased a 55 inch TV last year December. About two weeks back we had a power failure, but that was early the Sunday Morning, all appliances were working including the TV, while watching the TV all of the sudden there was no visuals but the sound was there. we tried replugging all the plugs of the Hi Fi, the Dish the DVD player as well as the TV, but the problem consisted, the visual disappered, but the sound remained. Later we discovered that the TV had a crack, but the crack was not from the outside but from the inside. Hi Fi Corp have told us that they will not replace the TV or wont be able to repair it because we claimed that it was due to a power failure. There is a 5 year warranty and Hi Fi expects us to throw away R5500.00. We have asked on numerous occasions for them to check what caused the crack, if the power failure caused so much damage, how is it that all other entertainment appliances are still working, the only problem that occured is the visual (picture) of the TV that was not displayed.
