I applied for a home loan and was told that I had an ITC to my name and therefore my loan was declined. Seeing that I do not have any accounts other than Nashua I requested the ITC report. On further investigation, I found that someone used my ID number to open an account at Truworths in January this year. My ID was not or re-issued in the last 15 years. My concern is, did Truworths follow the RICA process, before opening the account. How could this person supply 3 months bank statements and proof of residency? Because of the lack of Truworths to follow the law - I now have a outstanding account somewhere in Middelburg (although I have never been to Middelburg and stays in Cape Town for the past 10 years). I have now flagged my ID with Trans union and opened a case at the SAP. I reported this incident at Truworhs on Monday and as yet no one contacted me or send me the application that was opened in my name.
