No one to assist in a quote on a jacket

I bought a jacket in Nigel last year and it was damaged by the dry cleaners they need to re-imburse me but is unable to do same as Foschini in Carnival Mall is not willing to give me a quotation on the jacket because they have new systems and the barcode is no longer on their system. They passed the buck and sent me back to Nigel branch where they want a specific that as to when I purchased the item. Its not like I want anything from them I just need to know how much I purchased the jacket for, the lady at Carnival Mall told me that it is not their fault that they cant assist me, what is happening to our stores there is just no client service...
