WRONG BILLING

I went to the store to settle my account, they gave me settlement amount and i settled the amount the same day. i was given receipt to confirm this and they said i'll get letter of cancellation in two weeks and to my suprise i got a call and they said i owe them, apparantly the cashier made a mistake when giving me the settlement amount, and i don't understand how that is my proble. i need this fixed ASAP
