Over the weekend of 8 June 2013, I went Edgars in Brooklyn, Pretoria but unable to use my account. The lady then told me that I should RICA?? I was very upset and paid cash for my merchandise. On Sunday, 2 July 2013 I went to Edgars in THE GROVE, Lynnwood, Pretoria to find out more about this RICA. I went to customer service to enquiry and was informed that there is suspected on my account. A clone of my account was issued and on 16 June 2013 purchases were made to value of - R7400 in Fourways JHB, whilst I was not even in South Africa. I still have my original card with me and no additional cards were ever issued.
1. Why was my credit limit increased to R8800 without my consent? The limit was reduced in 2007 when the National Credit Act came into place. Maybe a case for the NCR?
2. Why was no contact made by Edgars when they suspected on my account? They only blocked my account? Easy way out.
I have completed the necessary dispute forms with Edgars, The Grove and apparently it will take up to 3 weeks to come to a conclusion, if any. In the mean time I must pay my debt or is it really my debt.
