Payments - but no security

I have been trying to cancel my ADT contract from the 19th of August, this after I have been trying the whole of July for ADT to come out to the premises to fix their transmitter as this did not work anymore. To date ADT never come out to fix their transmitter and that sparked the need to cancel the contract as the transmitter did not work from June and no security was provided from June. Finally I tried to cancel the contract with ADT (30 emails later and 8 phone calls) only acting on my cancellation notice today informing me that I will need to pay for an additional month because I did not give a months' notice! Honestly are they kidding me, I never got a months' notice in May that there will be no services from ADT to September, then I would have cancelled in May already so now they want me to pay for yet another month! This is unacceptable, I have tried to get hold of any person who can assist me but I am only able to contact the not so helpful helpline...
