Entered in to a 12 month contract with ADT for armed response services, after the expiry of the contract I have been on a month to month basis. On the 16th May 2013 I requested cancellation of my services from the end of May as I was moving house and no longer required their services. I am in fact moving out on the 23rd May but I cancelled from the end of the month. Payment for my services are in advance therefore I have paid already for the services I receive this month, when I advised ADT of my intention to cancel, they stated that I must give 30 calendar days notice therefore even though my services will no longer be needed at the end of May, I will still be charged for June and they will only cancel from 1st July 2013. I find this unethical as I will no longer be using their services from end May therefore I am paying for a service I am not receiving. While I don't dispute that this is probably in the small print of the contract I signed, it was not disclosed at time of signing by their agent. I have also been waiting for registration of my new property and due to several delays, I was not sure when it would actually get registered. My June debit order is ADT's profit.
