Faulty Decoders a Common Thing at Multichoice

Often I have heard of the struggles with the hardware of South Africa' biggest pay tv provider, but never had I expected Multichoice to disregard customer patronage to this extent!!! There are theories that whenever you take a faulty decoder in, they in fact do not give you a new one, but rather an previously faulty piece of equipment, merely clad in new covering. A theory found bearing more probability to truth after my encounter today.

Our trusted decoder of slightly more than half a decade recently gave way to age. Upon booting, the ancient relic would take in excess of 15 minutes to get past the ever green loading screen, if at all patience would be afforded. Usually, I would grow weary and find alternative means of entertainment. In addition to this slow start, all our PVR functions had ceased to operate. The message on the screen asked that we contact our nearest multi choice centre. A feat proven more difficult in these busy times we face.

Eventually, today time was spared to see to the matter. Time wasted it would seem. We were given a 'new' decoder. Trouble is the substandard thing keeps rebooting and scanning every 5 minutes!!

I have heard similar tales from friends
