Faulty decode

On Friday 24 May I went to the Randburg Customer Care Centre to try resolve the issue with my Xtraview service. I have an HD decoder and a standard definition Pvr. The secondary decoder has been showing a message saying no communication from primary decoder. The gentleman from multichoice assured me that there was an issue with the hd decoder and that it needs to be switched out at my cost, which i obliged to. After switching the HD decoder he then told me that the secondary decoder is also faulty an that I need to switch it also. I cant usderstand how both decoders can be faulty at the same time especially considering that I paid to have the SD PVR switched less than a year ago. He was also unable to give me a reason as to why this happened and his only solution was to switch them out. I cant keep perpetually switching out my decoders without knowing what is the cause. He then proceeded to tell me that it is my fault as I dont have any insurance on both machines but I think the gentlemans lack of technical knowledge is a cost to me and poor advice I received.
