Hi, we purchased a Playstation 3 Console (120GIG) in 2009. After about 8 months it started to give problems - it switched off while playing games or watching dvd's etc. We sent it in for repairs and they replaced the console. Two months ago the new replacement console does exactly the same thing - it switches off for no reason at any time. I phoned Sony South Africa today and the call center agent listened to my story and told me that unfortunately it is outside of warranty and the only thing I can do is to go to the nearest Sony agent (which is 300km away from us) and pay R1200 for a replacement unit. I then complained about the fact that this is a re-occurring problem and that something should be done about it. The call center agent informed me that there is nothing that she can do and no one she can refer me to. She told me that I must remember that because it is electronic equipment, that this sort of thing can happen. Well I disagree - if you type in on google = playstation 3 switches off by itself then you get a frightening picture of how bad the product is world wide. Sony! your product is of poor quality and your answers unacceptable. I want this resolved Please!!
