Switching DSTV on and off as they please!

Good day,

I am writing this complaint on behalf of my mother who is 81 years of age, and it is a struggle for her to do the every day things. You would think DSTV would be more accommodating but I am actually disgusted in what has happened. As far as I know, and how it has been over the years, if you do not pay your DSTV account, it gets switched off and in order to use it again you need to go and pay your monthly fee. My mother went away for 3 months and 2 out of those 3 months she didn't pay and wasn't charged, however then all of a sudden when she got back home DSTV informed her that they switched it on and charged her for 1 of those 3 months even though she wasn't using it! They then wouldn't switch it back on when she got back until she had paid the full amount they had charged her. DSTV has no right to just switch it on and charge a customer because they feel like it. My question, WHY DID DSTV DECIDE TO ALL OF A SUDDEN SWITCH IT ON AFTER 2 MONTHS HAD GONE BY AND NO PAYMENTS WERE MADE. So now every time she wants to switch her dstv off she needs to phone, hold on the line and tell them to switch her off.
