DRIFTA FAULTY FROM DAY ONE - TOO LATE

I bought a Drifta and HD PVR combo in December 2011, when I purchased the Drifta it did not work in my area - I tried everything but the DVBH signal was too weak - i eventually on holiday in JHB got it to work after an hour of effort on my iPad - but it buffered so much i turned it off and thought i would use it another time. Well that time came today when i downloaded all the software again got it out the box charged it and voila... NOTHING this thing has been faulty from day one and I just cannot understand why it would be so hard to get it to work. I called DSTV Mobile and they informed me that the unit is faulty and guess what I can take it into a repair centre and get it either repaired or replaced - BUT only if in Warranty - guess what the Warranty expired a month and a half ago. I have been a loyal DSTV Premium Subscriber for 10 years and I refuse to pay for something I have Never been able to use. What an absolute waste of money... Please can someone help me it was bought as a gift for my husband and the day finally comes when he can use it and its useless...
