I am currently a DSTV Compact subscriber and contacted DSTV support to enquire about upgrading/downgrading packages. I wanted to find outh whether it's possible to upgrade to the Premium Bouquet on weekends and then downgrade again to the Compact Bouquet during the week. The response I was given was that I was allowed to make multiple upgrades in a month, however I was only allowed to make one downgrade. The first thought that sprung to mind was that DSTV is forgoing potential income in only allowing one downgrade a month because as a result of this practice, I won't be inclined to even do one weekend upgrade a month. I can't quite fathom the rationale behind only allowing one dowgrade a month, other than that DSTV are trying to encourage people to permanently upgrade to the Premium Bouquet, thus providing more revenue for the company. This is absolutely disgusting business practice and is what one would expect in a monopolistic market.
When one experiences something like this from a company, the "we strive to to provide the highest quality customer service" script falls on deaf ears.
DSTV/Multichoice, to say I'm disappointed in your service would be an understatement.
