My daughter studies at Tukkies and we paid for her accommodation through Just Letting Waterkloof. Last year sometime, another agent from another Just Letting called and said that we had to pay them now as the owner of the Waterkloof branch has passed away. NO ONE told us about claims for deposits or went through the way forward with me as a paying client! JUST PAY YOUR RENT sort of attitude. I am now at a point where the deceased's attorney tells me that the estate is bankrupt. BUT WAIT - deposits are supposed to be in a TRUST account??? Oh, unfortunately, she mismanaged it!!! Okay - NOW WHAT?? And no-one can tell me what happens next!! Spoke with Just Letting Cusomer Care in Durban - and the reply I get is: send an email and we will reply. BUT I already know what the answer is!! R6500 of our money is now just "GONE" and everyone seems to throw their hands in the air!!! I am in awe to see how no-one really cares about what happens to hard earned money when someone passes away and leaves behind a mess. What guarantee do we have on desposits paid? Who protects the consumer??
