I'm renting a commercial property from City Property. I've got a fitness studio that operates about 4-6 hours a day, got no air cons, just lights and some home fans in the studio. The first month I received a electricity bill of R 5641 for 3047 units and that works out to R1.85 per unit... for lights. After talking to City Property they claim that there is some mistake and they will investigate. The following month it was R3710 for 1365 units that work out to R2.71 per unit. This just continues, the next month we 'used' 223 units at R2424 that boils down to R10.68 per unit. After discussing this matter with City Property they said that we should only pay R1000p/m until this matter is resolved. But every month any money that is not paid is carried over to the next month and they also charge us interest on the outstanding amount.
Now we have one sink in our offices, no toilets or any other water systems, but now they sent us a bill of R500 per month, on the highest rate of water in South Africa, it claims that we use 50KL water every month... really? After eight months of renting this property we have only been getting surprise after surprise with no resolution in sight.
