SELECTION ESTATES
Electricity Cut off ILLEGALLY after 14 days late

Electricity Cut off ILLEGALLY after 14 days late payment:
Our bill was due (as per statement sent approximately 7 days earlier) by 31 July 2013
I did not pay the bill on that day and Selection Estates decided to CUT THE ELECTRICITY to my unit on 14 August 2013 WITHOUT sending me a notice via email or SMS or phone call.

1) Cutting electricity is altogether ILLEGAL. Selection Estates is breaking the law.
2) It is IMMORAL to cut the electricity if an account is not paid within 14 days.
3) Furthermore to (2) cutting the electricity HAS to be made after a warning period, KNOWING that the owner of the account has received notice of what is going to happen.
4) I have been late in payments before (as i am sure many other people are) with the only consequence that Selection Estates charges interest on overdue account.
5) I find somewhat arrogant the fact they only allow 7 days between sending the account and expecting payment. I don't know if that is illegal or not, but doesn't sound reasonable.
6) i suggest that Tiffany George familiarizes herself with the Sectional Titles rules and regulations to avoid this type of abuse.
