I rented a unit from Seeff Properties from March 2012 till November 2013. The unit number was 37 in Avianto Complex located in Aerorand suburb in Middleburg.
Upon my moving out, I repainted the place, fixed it up as much as I deemed necessary and had a walk about in it with the agent, Letitia, who said she was very happy with the place. There was, however, an ~ 30cm scratch on the laminated flooring of the main bedroom that I did not get to fixing. The agent and I agreed that she would fix the scratch and deduct that from my R6000 deposit. Now that I have left Mpumalanga, Seeff is informing me that they cannot repair just the scratch but have to redo the whole floor at R5800 rands. I know laminated flooring costs from as little as R120 per square meter. The scratch, as I mentioned, is only approximately 30cm in length with practically no width.
Seeff is being unfair in not wanting to pay back my money claiming repairs cannot be done to only the scratch.
Could you please assist.
Please note: I have requested Seeff to take a picture of the scratch for me in order for me to seek advise on it but it has been over a month and I have received nothing.
Please intervene.
